This week’s chocolate fix: Mole Sauce!

Specifically, the 16 Spice Chicken with Pomegranate Mole Sauce at Bobby Flay’s NYC Mesa Grill in the Union Square area of Manhattan.

I was here over a weekend for a client meeting on a Sunday morning and had the luck to score a dinner reservation at this fab restaurant on a super-packed Saturday night. Bonus: Bobby Flay was there! (Hello, Celebrity Sighting). If you love spice and delicious food you can’t just find anywhere, you will definitely appreciate this place.

Honorable Mention: The chocolatey aphrodisiac potion at the Oralfix Cafe in the Museum of Sex on Fifth Ave. Super sexy spot, and super fun!

Related Shout Out: The Mole Sauce at Sol Azteca on Beacon Street in Boston. Still a major favorite!!

This week’s chocolate fix: ICED Hot Chocolate

Who would have thought that this oxy moron of a beverage would be so magically delicious?

Sure, you might say it’s just chocolate milk with a fancy name… but Ula Cafe makes this bad  boy with fresh chocolate ganache and not just any old chocolate syrup out of a pump.

It’s the perfect alternative to my usual mocha latte.  Just as chocolaty, with out the caffeine jitters.

Everybody poops

N: Mommy, I poop-pooped.

Me: It’s ok. Everybody poops.

N: Mommy? Care Bears poop-poop?

Me: …Um, yes. Yeah. Care Bears too. I think.

This week’s chocolate fix: Chocolate milk

This post can also appropriately be named “This week’s chocolate WIN” because after I had all but given up on getting Nina to drink milk, after a whole year of milk-strike, and after many visits to the pedi where we vaguely skirted the question of whether or not Nina was getting her liquid dairy… Lo and behold she is now drinking chocolate milk like it’s going out of style. All thanks to day care. And probably some toddler peer pressure.

Gotta love day care.

Oh, and note to self, not to sweat the small stuff. Everything comes right around in its own time!

This week’s chocolate fix: Chocolate Cubano

Is this even a real drink? Or is it something my local cafe just made up?

I wanted to try something different on Thursday and saw this on the menu: the Chocolate Cubano. Basically, a Cuban coffee mixed with chocolate ganache… Um, yes please!

I heart you, Ula Cafe.

This week’s chocolate fix: Baltimore bites

This past weekend I was in Baltimore, MD for the AABB CTTXPO (yes, a whole lotta letters and you probably aren’t interested one bit what they stand for, especially if you are reading this for a chocolate fix) for the first time and picked up:

Bergers Cookies:  Basically, if you love chocolate fudge, cake frosting and cookies, you will L-O-V-E Bergers.

Otterbein Chocolate Chip Cookies – thin, wafer-like discs of sweet goodness – SO thin, they really don’t even count toward your caloric intake, and the yummiest chocolate chips I’ve had in a long time.

Go get some!

I love you too, Nina Bear.
